The coast at Portsoy is world-famous for its geology – a dramatic section of metamorphic rocks –squashed and cooked by the mountain building events that laid the foundations of the Scottish Highlands. Join us to explore the geology and history, including the celebrated “Portsoy Marble”. See rock specimens at Portsoy Bothy Museum and in dramatic outcrops on the shoreline. The guided excursion involves 2-3 km walking on surfaced paths.
