Radiation has been used to treat cancer since the 1800s. However, modern technology has recently opened the door to a treatment technique known as “Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy” or SABR. We now use radiation beams the way a surgeon wields a scalpel, destroying small tumours with very large doses of radiation in organs like the lung and liver.
