Watch STEM Next 2023 Final Celebration
A massive congratulations to all the students who took part in STEM Next 2023!
This essay competition had no subject pre-requisites and was not purely STEM based. Students of various interests could take part. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn transferable skills that they can utilize in their future studies and careers, e.g. research, critical analysis, communication.
There were 3 potential essay categories to choose and within each category there were a diverse range of interdisciplinary essay questions, with subjects to suit every interest! This was a solo project that required independent research and writing. However, participants were encouraged to get feedback from their peers or teachers before the final submission.
There were three essay categories available:
1) Energy In Action
1st Place winner: Kit Nugent, read essay
2nd Place winner: Geetika Gupta, read essay
3rd Place winner: Muhammad Saad Khan, read essay
2) Life Sciences & Medicine
1st Place winner: Divit Kelmani, read essay
2nd Place winner: Mrinalini Muralidaran, read essay
3rd Place winner: Akshara Suresh, read essay
3) Chemistry & Biological Sciences
1st Place winner: Marisa Toms, read essay
2nd Place winner: Fahima Amiri, read essay
3rd Place winner: Hemanetra Muralidaran, read essay
Each of the STEM Next essay categories had a first-place prize of £200 worth of Amazon vouchers, and second place prize of £100 worth of Amazon vouchers and a third place prize of £50 worth of Amazon vouchers.
Taking part in this competition was a brilliant opportunity for students to add additional achievements to their UCAS applications. In addition, participating students were eligible for CREST AWARDS.
